    Our Brand Story

    Born in California, BASED (Based Bodyworks) grew out of a real‑world grooming pain point.
    While creating men’s hair‑care educational content online, our founder noticed a clear gap in the market. Many existing men’s products forced users to choose: strong styling performance with harsh ingredients, or gentle formulas that deliver unsatisfying results. Young men wanted better options that work well without compromising scalp health.

    What started as a small‑batch run of only 100 units out of a garage grew into the BASED you know today. The name BASED stands for grounded truth and no‑compromise values — not chasing marketing trends, but building products for how men actually live, sweat, shower and style their hair.

    Will it dry my hair out?

    Not with ours. Most sea salt sprays overload on drying alcohols and synthetic salt blends that overly dry your hair. BASED balances mineral-rich sea salt with aloe vera and glycerin to give you texture without drying your hair out.

    How do I apply it best?

    Spray onto damp or dry hair, then scrunch, blow-dry, or air-dry for natural volume. Use solo or as a primer before clay or pomade.

    Will it dry my hair out?
